Alpine Initiatives

A few friends of mine, JP Auclair, Mike Hovey, Seth Koch, and Chad Fleischer, have recently started Alpine Initiatives.

"Alpine Initiatives was created as a platform to give the snow sports community an opportunity to get together and work on different projects that will have a positive impact on the world we live in."

For their first project they will be going to Kenya for the month of October to physically build the Amani Community Home, a place that will allow children to stay near home rather than sending them to overcrowded city orphanages. They have teamed up with International Peace Initiatives, but also need the support from others to make this happen. 100% of all the proceeds raised go toward the projects they are working on.

I encourage you to go to their site www.alpineinitiatives.org check it out, donate if you'd like, and get inspired.

Back on Skis!

What a week!

I was able to re-join the Alliance group after Tatum was born in April. I was ready to get back with the gals and the rest of the K2 group to catch up.
Luckily we only had 2 groups of tests to do everyday which allowed me some rest in the afternoon. My legs are not ready for full days of skiing yet, I'll wait until July's test for that.

I can't wait for July for some sunshine! And also get back together with the group for some quality girl time!

Engineer's truck after testing - so much for hanging out in the storm

Timberline Lodge in June - Who knew we'd be skiing in winter conditions including 6" of new snow on our last day of testing?

It's May

It's May. I'm in Mammoth trying to ski as much as possible before the snow runs out. I woke up this morning and it was dumping outside. There is a couple of inches of snow on the railing. I didn't expect that. I was going to go skiing, but it's rock hard. I was going to go mountain biking, but it's snowing. So I'll just have to go pump iron at the gym to keep me busy. And blog. And drink Mate, I just realized how good that stuff is. I actaully think it tastes like cigarette butts. With a little milk and sugar, it's a good alternative to coffee. Mmm...
